PROJECT DESCRIPTION

All the engineering, diploma and other technical students from first year to final year can get hands on experience in designing and developing various electronics projects with these real-time solder less project kits. Complete assembled project is available in image format besides real time working in audio visuals to help students to complete the experiment with ease and then try engineering skills to attempt the other free circuits.

Voltage Doubler:

The aim of this project is to develop a circuit which will step up the applied DC voltage by voltage multiplier principles. A 555 timer is used in astable mode to deliver the output approximately twice the input voltage. The output from the 555 timer is given to a voltage doubler circuit to get the desired output.

This system comprises of a voltage doubler which is a combination of two capacitors and two diodes. It also contains a 555 timer which is running in astable mode. The input voltage applied is around 6 volts DC and the output voltage is around 10 volts DC. The output of 555 timer passes through a voltage doubler to get around 12v DC with 20% regulation owing to circuit parameters.

Thus we get 10 volts DC approximately. The load however should be restricted to less than 5 mA as drawing higher current would result in further poor regulation causing the output voltage falling below the expected level. The output voltage can be measured with the help of a multi-meter

Further, the project can be enhanced by adding multiple stages for getting three to ten times the input voltage.

 With this solderless breadboard approach none of the component is soldered, hence all the components can be used again and again to try such multiple circuits.
