PROJECT DESCRIPTION

The main scope of this project is to control a load for short-time duration by using a 555 timer and a touch-sensitive switch.

The 555 timer is triggered by a touch plate connected to its trigger pin. The output of the 555 delivers logic high for a fixed time interval as decided by the RC time constant connected to the mono stable wired timer. This output drives a relay which in turn switches on the load for that duration after which it switches off automatically. Human body induced mains supply develops a voltage on the touch plate to trigger the timer.

A:  There is some approximated formula .Peak to peak ripple voltage = Load current in amps / (2*line frequency in hertz *capacitance in farads). But as rule of thumb for 1 A current 1000uF is best. Thus it is load dependent.
