This is a project used for displaying messages in scrolling format on an alphanumeric LED display. This type of scrolling system is applicable in public areas, on transport vehicles, advertisements, railway platforms, banks, hotels, nightclubs etc.

Here a DC voltage of 5V is drawn from power supply voltage regulator is fed to micro controller of 8051 family. The circuit uses 16 segment alpha numeric displays to show 16 characters at a time.

More over, programming has been done in micro controller to make the characters move in a beautiful manner. It displays 16 different messages to depict different occasions, which can be selected by the user through a slide switches. Using of alphanumeric displays for above purpose programming burden is reduced and becomes highly cost effective.

Further the project can be enhanced by interfacing it with a GSM modem. The user can send the message to the control unit via SMS and the data gets displayed.
