PROJECT DESCRIPTION

This project is designed as a phone (DTMF)-controlled-load-management system, which works on the principle of a DTMF (Dual Tone Multi Frequency) tone command received from anyphone to remotely controlthe electrical loads, such as agricultural pump, domestic appliances industrial loads, etc.

A cell phone is interfaced to the DTMF decoder in the system. Output from the earphone socket of the cell phone is used for receiving tone commands. The received cell phone codes are converted into digital commands using a DTMFdecoderthat identifiesthe particular key frequency and converts that frequency intoits equivalentdigital code, whichis then fed to themicrocontroller(of 8051 thefamily).As per the commands sent fromthe sender’s mobile,the microcontrollersends signalsthrough a buffer to actuate respective loads by turning therelays on/off.These relays are actuated bya relay-driver IC interfaced to the microcontroller.

Furthermore, this project can be enhanced by using a GSM modem, where the loads can be controlled by sending an SMS. This will eliminate theneed of answering the call for the system to work.
