The main objective of this project is to develop a circuit breaker system, to protect the line-men who are predisposed to fatal electrical accidents, that turns ON/OFF the loads with the help of a password.
Due to lack of proper communication between the maintenance staff and the electric substation staff, fatal electrical accident occurs sometimes for the line men during repairing of electrical lines. This project is enhanced to provide solutions to the maintenance staff by arranging a password system to operate the loads.
The proposed system uses a microcontroller of the 8051 family and a rectified power supply. A matrix keypad is interfaced to the microcontroller for entering a password. A relay is controlled by a relay driver IC, which is connected to the microcontroller. The lamps areconnected to the relay contact to indicate electrical lines.
The numbers entered through the matrix keypad are sent to the microcontroller. The entered password is compared with the stored password in the microcontroller. If the entered password matcheswith the stored password,then only the line will be turned ON/OFF.Activation / deactivation of the circuit breaker are indicated by a lamp (ON/OFF).
This project future can be enhanced by using an EEPROM for user to change the password for a more secured system.
