PROJECT DESCRIPTION

The project is designed to build an incoming phone ring flasher suitable for noisy environments. A phone line is connected through an opto isolator to drive a relay whenever telephone ring is detected by the circuit.

The lamp flashes whenever there is an incoming call. This system is highly useful in a situation where there is lot of noise and it is not possible to listen the phone ring, such as a workshop, factory etc.

The phone line is connected to the circuit. This circuit is developed using an opto-isolator and an electromechanical relay to switch ON/OFF the lamp driven by a transistor. This concept can be extended in future and implemented in the real time scenario.

Q:  What is incoming phone ring light flasher?
A:  It gives a visual indication whenever the phone rings.
Q:  What is the formula for calculating smoothing capacitor value?
A:  There is some approximated formula .Peak to peak ripple voltage = Load current in amps / (2*line frequency in hertz *capacitance in farads). But as rule of thumb for 1 A current 1000uF is best. Thus it is load dependent.
Q:  What to do when the lamp fails and what is the maximum lamp rating that can be used?
A:  If the lamp fails one can use any lamp or bulb which is used in homes up to 100W. We suggest you to go for low watt bulbs.
Q:  Where is it used?
A:  It is helpful for deaf people who can easily be notified of an incoming phone and in the places of high noise environment like in industries etc.

have taken this project to do it individually. The project components are new and worked very well. The connection between different components and the soldering techniques have been explained very well in the audio visuals.
