PROJECT DESCRIPTION

This project is designed to identify the water level in an overhead tank using a water- level sensor. This system also displays the water level as a numeric indication (0-9) on a 7-segment display.

This is the circuit designed for overhead-tank-digital-water-level indicator. It is built around priority encoder, BCD-to-7-segment decoder, 7-segment display and a few discrete components. Due to high input impedance, priority encoder senses water in the container from its nine input terminals.

The inputs are connected to +5V. The ground terminal of the sensor must be kept at the bottom of the container (tank). Priority encoder has nine active-low inputs and converts the active input into active- low BCD output. It uses a 7-segment display to show the water level in numeric form from ‘0’ to ‘9.’

The power supply consists of a step-down transformer 230/12V, which steps down the voltage to 12V AC. This is converted to DC using a Bridge rectifier. The ripples are removed using a capacitive filter and, it is then regulated to +5V using a voltage regulator 7805, which is required for the operation of different ICs and components.

Furthermore, the project can be enhanced by interfacing it with a buzzer to alert when the water level falls below the minimum level.

Q:  What is water level indication?
A:  It indicates the level of water in the tank
Q:  Can this also be used for other purpose?
A:  Yes, it can be used for any partially conducting non corrosive and non inflammable liquid.
Q:  What is the formula for calculating smoothing capacitor value?
A:  There is some approximated formula .Peak to peak ripple voltage = Load current in amps / (2*line frequency in hertz *capacitance in farads). But as rule of thumb for 1 A current 1000uF is best. Thus it is load dependent.

I came to know about Edgefx through Internet. I used the project title in the Google to find Edgefx.I thought Service and kit may be good. And even my senior bought his project from Edgefx I like it’s not expensive.Yes the kit delivered on time with the right components.I purchased the project through online. FedEx delivery should be improved.

The website and it is Very good. Ihadquestions related to sensors. I got excellent feedback with my friends so I purchased form Edgefx. I bought the Readymade kit and liked the Perfection. Improvement should be required in DVD.
